Ashley Wendland

Ashley Wendland, MS, LCPC

The decision to seek support can be difficult and it is important to find the right fit.  I’ll share a little about myself and my experience to help you gain a feel for whether or not you are interested in working with me.

I have worked with both adolescents and young adults within a therapeutic program setting since 2008, providing both individual and family therapy.  Prior to this I spent two years working with a non-profit organization in Casper Wyoming, providing a variety of services for adolescents and families, including group therapy in the public schools, drug education classes for first time offenders in the legal system, as well as individual therapy, family therapy, and case management.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma Baptist University in Family Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Counseling from the University of Wyoming.   Additionally, I have training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a cutting edge modality used in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, and various other pathologies.  Other areas of special knowledge include Attachment and Family Systems approaches, including Theraplay and other play therapy techniques.  I firmly believe in using an approach that considers the entire family and other social networks.  I involve parents whenever possible when working with children, in order to strengthen healthy family bonds.

In my spare time I volunteer at Kinderhaven, a non-profit organization in Sandpoint, and also enjoy outdoor  activities including hiking, bicycling, and snowboarding.
